So yesterday I went for a pamper session courtesy of my boyfriend! :)
I suffer with a bad back and always complain about my skin breaking out so he booked me a package at;
http://www.abtlasercentre.com
I was booked in for a 1 hour massage and 1 hour facial
On arrival I was shown into the room and asked to undress and lay on the bed, after 5 mins a girl enters the room and introduces herself, then asks me what my name is and what im booked in for! I was a little perturbed as surely you should know the name of your client and what treatment your about to perform...? But anyway, without checking my medical history, possible contraindications and any specific problems I may have she starts my full body massage, the massage was merely satisfactory, almost just a routine she was merely following, my skin felt very pinched and as though her thumb and fingertips were dragging, so not very relaxing as you can imagine, there was no time spent on my problem areas ie; calfs and scapula. Now as a fully qualified massage therapist I know what is expected from a therapist and I personally always go above and beyond what my client needs and wants, it is after all my job to make them feel I have actually helped in some way or at least to make them so relaxed they cant talk properly and the end of the session! :p Not the case for me :(
After the massage had been completed I was left in the room while the therapist went to collect the bits she needed for my facial, so I glanced at the clock and noticed that not even 45 mins had passed (1hour massage was paid for)
So she returns and starts to prep me for my facial, seems unable to fix the headband around my head and was very rough in trying to do so, she simply rubbed in some kind of cleansing lotion x4 applications, wiped off with a hot flannel, then rubbed in a scrub x4 applications, wiped off with hot flannel, rubbed in a 'mask' x2 applications, then left the room for some minutes, upon returning she rubbed down my lower legs and arms, then proceeded to remove the mask from my face with hot flannel, then she simply rubbed in a moisturiser x2 applications and deemed the session over, a quick glance at the clock showed that again barely 45 mins had passed (again 1 hour facial paid for) :(
On trying to get up from the bed to get dressed I actually struggled, my lower back had seized up and my left arm and left side of neck were very heavy and painful, on standing I noticed that my left side bum cheek had slight nerve compression and made it difficult to walk with ease, but I dressed and made my way to the loo, to fix hair and what not and noticed I had some of the products still on my face namely over my right eye, so I wiped it away, fixed my self up and made to leave.
Needless to say I was very disappointed with the treatment I had received, before visiting the centre I had looked up the web site and believed I was in for a great treat, as they promise so much, apparently teach courses and use dermologica products, have a look at the site and tell me what you think.
I can safely say the site is a massive stretch of 'the directors' imagination, dermologica was not used for my facial and there was no sign of dermalogica products throughout the salon!
Unfortuanely my boyfriends gift of a pamper package ending up being a waste of time, money, petrol and expectations.
Dissapointing :(
